Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal information, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Last updated: 17 September 2026

Who we are

MeySafa ("we", "us", "our") is a private travel-planning business operating in South Africa, offering bespoke journey planning, booking and guidance services. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through meysafa.com and our journey-planning enquiry process, and sets out your rights under POPIA.

Information we collect

We collect information in two ways:

  • Information you give us directly — when you complete our journey planner, this includes your first and last name, email address, phone number (optional), trip preferences (traveller type, duration, experiences, comfort level, pace, regions, travel season), approximate budget, and any additional notes you choose to share.
  • Information collected automatically — when you browse our site, we use tracking technology (the Meta Pixel, described below) that collects browsing behaviour, device and browser information, and cookies, for the purpose of measuring and improving our advertising.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide to understand your travel needs, respond to your enquiry, and plan, book and guide your journey. We use automatically collected information to measure how people find and use our site, and to run and optimise our advertising campaigns. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of third-party service providers to run our business, and your information may pass through them as part of that:

  • EmailJS — delivers your journey planner submission to us by email.
  • Meta Platforms, Inc. (Facebook/Instagram) — receives browsing and interaction data via the Meta Pixel, used to measure and optimise our advertising. This may involve your information being processed outside South Africa; Meta maintains its own privacy and security safeguards, which you can review directly on their website.

We don't share your information with anyone else, except where required by law.

Cookies and tracking

Our site uses the Meta Pixel, a tracking tool that places cookies in your browser and reports on the pages you visit and actions you take (such as opening our journey planner or downloading a sample route), so we can measure the effectiveness of our advertising and show it to people likely to be genuinely interested in our services. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings at any time; doing so won't affect your ability to use the site, though some ad-measurement features may no longer work correctly for you.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • Ask us what personal information we hold about you, and request a copy of it.
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
  • Ask us to delete your personal information, where we're not required to keep it for a legitimate business or legal reason.
  • Object to how we process your information, including for direct marketing.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) if you believe we've handled your information incorrectly.

To exercise any of these rights, just get in touch using the details below.

How long we keep your information

We keep journey planner submissions for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry and, where a trip goes ahead, to deliver our service — typically no longer than a few years after our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or we're required to keep it for legal or accounting reasons.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to protect your personal information against loss, misuse or unauthorised access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe throughout our process.

Children's privacy

Our services are intended for adults planning travel. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our services or legal obligations change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
